Turtles are here to teach humanity that we are already in the right place at the right time.

So most of us have heard about turtles and the fact that they lay their eggs during a specific season and so on... but it isn’t until you come close to these magnificent creatures and actually presence the ritual that involves them laying their eggs that you can grasp their grandness, their sacredness and the powerful healing medicine they bring to this world.

I had never been close to or touched a turtle. All I really knew came from what I’d heard regarding how long they live, that they travel oceans and go back to the same spot year after year to lay their eggs, that their eggs take about 58 days to hatch, and on goes the list of facts that make up the theory, all conceptual data for the mind to process.

But it wasn’t until I met eye to eye, soul to soul, with one of these beings, under one of Tulum’s star filled nights with the Full Moon as our witness, that I really grasped the emotional bond, the heart connection, us humans are able to establish with these ancient creatures, and what we can learn from these wise animals if we humbly and receptively sit in silence to presence how they give life striving to stay alive in an act of love, in a perfect and inspiring dance of responsive surrender, fully trusting in the moment’s perfection.

I was very touched as I observed how she patiently dug, her enormous body and teary eyes covered in sand, and after extreme effort and perfect timing, released the life force she’d nested inside. Unable to speak or move I witnessed her swiftness, her rhythm, her pain. Time stopped, the crowd’s chatter went mute as the ocean waves seemed to loudly break in my heart. And it was in that precise moment that we connected and I accompanied her on her journey of unconditional love that allowed me to see with the eyes of the heart.

When her time came she headed towards the ocean letting the moonlight gracefully guide her return. She moved slowly, very slowly, as if she already knew she was in the right place, at the right time.

And right there lies a huge lesson for humanity. We already are in the right place, at the right time.
